The past is a stranger round here.
The neighbour we no longer speak to.
It’s not the tiger in the room
Because it’s not being ignored
It’s just lacking the teeth to bite us.

      I think there probably is a repetitive theme of want in this poem – as a desire to leave the past behind … whether I’m managing to do that or am kidding myself, I’m not sure I’ve worked that out yet.
